About Steve
I believe that, because you're opting for a celebrant-led ceremony or service, you are a little more interested in ensuring it's the right person leading it; someone who listens and understands exactly how you want it to be. Relationship and trust are really important. So here's a little about me.
I love being a celebrant because I am able to help, support and make a real difference to families who are grieving and use my love of words and creativity to craft the perfect goodbye service. It really is an honour to be asked to sum up and share someone's life, loves and achievements. Similarly, it's wonderful to be able to share the excitement and help make a couple's wedding dreams come to fruition by designing, writing and leading their perfect wedding ceremony.
My career can be summed up by two words – people and communication.
As a teacher and school leader I have cared for and supported children, families and colleagues through life’s challenging times and, in a parallel career as a radio presenter, I created friendly, 1-2-1 connections with individuals across large, distant audiences.
I have worked with individuals and groups of varying sizes. I have presented and spoken to small groups and bigger teams as well as large, professional audiences at
national conferences on the themes of wellbeing, care and effective communication. I have worked with teachers, leaders and children in schools in the UK, USA, China, Malawi and Italy. As the leader, I developed our school ‘tone of voice’ and our central message which was ‘Be kind, be your best’. I have also coached senior leaders and aspiring headteachers through a national leadership programme and worked as a school development partner and challenge advisor.
I have hosted commercial ceremonies and public events such as the Welsh Advertising Awards, Prince’s Trust Business in The Community Awards, Cardiff Black & White Ball and Swansea city centre Christmas light switch on.
I have also worked with various clients including Wonkybot Studios in California as a voice character actor on their Tara Tremendous and Spooky Troop series. I am able to create very personal interactions, events and occasions by listening, understanding, suggesting and facilitating. As a reflective professional, I have very high standards. And I also know the value of silence, timing and the power of adding the right music to the moment. Communication, connecting with people and designing success and happiness have been central to my work and have been my motivation for years.
